Maybe I did enjoy being a kid once...

I love SKIPtheatre. So often we see the same traditional burlesque/performance art shtick from the women of a particular indie music scene... and while I do enjoy quite a few of those, these wonderful London ladies are something different entirely. I can't explain how, but they've managed to strike a magical balance. All at once sexy (without being overt), edgy and cutesy, this trio of Goldsmiths grads use everything from hula hoops to film projectors to create some of the most earnest pop art since Warhol. Much like Tim Burton, they have a knack for refracting complex adult sensibilities through the prism of childlike whimsy. The ladies of SKIPtheatre understand that we usually want what we wanted in childhood: to have fun, make friends and do something unique. They've performed at Offset, Glastonbury, Love Box and London Fashion Week, not to mention being heavily featured in the video for Neils Childrens' latest single, "I'm Ill". You can find the links to their various pages at www.skiptheatre.co.uk, and the video for "I'm Ill" is below.
Enjoy.
